untold ("untold", "we", "us", or "app") is an anonymous emotional diary that lets you write and record how you feel. This policy explains what information the app does and does not collect, how it is used, and the choices you have. By using untold, you agree to the practices described here.

untold does not require you to create an account, and does not ask for your name, email address, phone number, or any similar personal identifier. When you first open the app, it generates a random, anonymous device identifier that is stored securely on your device (in the operating system's secure storage / keychain). This identifier lets the app associate your entries with your device, but it is not linked to your real-world identity and is not used to profile or track you across other apps or services.

servers (at untold.ican2icon.com) so the feature can work. We do not sell this content, and
we do not use it for advertising.
untold lets you share a specific entry or activity with a private "circle" of people you invite via an invite link. Anything you deliberately share becomes visible to the people you invite to that circle or who open a shared-activity link. Content you keep to yourself is not shared. Please only share what you are comfortable with others in your circle seeing.
untold uses Firebase Cloud Messaging (a Google service) to deliver push notifications. For this, a device push token is registered with our server. This token is associated only with your anonymous device identifier and is not tied to any personal information. You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings.
Like most internet services, our servers may automatically record limited technical information when the app communicates with them — such as IP address, device/OS type, and timestamps — for security, abuse prevention, and to keep the service running reliably. This information is not used to identify you personally.

We do not sell your data, and we do not use your entries for advertising or profiling.
Your content remains available until you delete it or uninstall the app. Because entries are tied to an anonymous device identifier, deleting the app or clearing its secure storage may permanently and irreversibly remove your ability to access previously created content. Server-side copies of shared content are retained as needed to provide the shared feature and may be removed on request (see below).
Depending on where you live (for example, under the EU/UK GDPR or California CCPA/CPRA), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your information. Because untold is anonymous and holds no identifying information about you, we may need you to provide your anonymous device identifier (available in the app) to locate the associated content. To make a request, or to ask us to delete shared content, contact admin@ican2icon.com.
Your anonymous identifier is stored using your device's secure storage (Keychain on iOS, Keystore on Android). Data transmitted between the app and our servers is protected in transit using encryption (HTTPS/TLS). No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
untold is not directed to children. You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country) to use the app. We do not knowingly collect information from children under this age. If you believe a child has used the app, contact us and we will remove the associated content.
Our service providers, including Google Firebase, may process and store data on servers located outside your country. By using untold, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in locations with different data-protection laws than your own.
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be reflected in the app or on this page. Continued use of untold after changes means you accept the updated policy.
